A Tribute Post: IKEA Meatballs
An Ode to IKEA Meatballs
by Rachel Quigley
A poem of love for those little spheres of savory flavor,
When I approach the menu I never ever waiver…
With your best friends mashed potatoes and lingonberry jam,
Just add cream sauce and you’ve hit a grand slam.
I love you, dear Swedish meatballs, your bread and your meat,
I would write about you if I knew how to tweet.
And the jam, so tart while still so sweet,
Makes the whole plate together a treat to eat.
And at four dollars a serving, I’ll splurge for a second round,
Until my waistline is no where to be found.
I’ll drive forty-five minutes to Emeryville for just one bite,
And then dream about you the rest of the night.
